Technology: Boon or Bane?

Lesson 2.

“Technology is in our hands. We can use it to build or to destroy”.

Technology is a gift for man that makes life more convenient and easy. Technology can bring things that are impossible to happen. It can make you closer to someone that is a million miles away; it can bring information and messages in just a minute. It also helps make teaching and learning process more meaningful, stimulating, exciting and engaging by using and integrating multimedia resources in the classroom.
However, when you are an abusive user of technology it can damage the teaching and learning process as well as the development. It can destroy relationships. The abuse and misuse of technology and internet will have far reaching unfavorable effects on moral, social and emotional aspect.
Technology has a big help in improving teaching and learning process and to the humanization of life. It is indeed a gift and a blessing if it is being used properly but it becomes a detriment to instruction, human progress and development.
“Technology is made for man and not man for technology. Technology is made for the teacher and not the teacher for technology.”
We should not let technology rule over our lives, technology is meant to serve man in all aspects of life including instruction. Technology should be manipulated by man and not the technology to manipulate man.

It is on your hands on how you use the technology. Are you going to use it as boon or bane? Better be at the right thing.
